Outback Queensland has played a unique role in the nation's history. It's the birthplace of our national airline, QANTAS, and home to the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame, a glowing tribute to the true grit and fortitude of those pioneers who opened up the heart of Australia. It's also home to the oldest rainforest in the world, the ancient Daintree.
The Cape York Peninsula thrusts deep into untamed tropics and is tagged by many as Australia's final frontier. The historic Telegraph Track was carved into the Landscape during the 1870's, much of it through impenetrable bush sliced by broad rivers. Most of 'The Cape' is to this day only accessible by flight or four-wheel drive.
In complete contrast to Cape York, the east coast is dotted with pristine islands boasting world recognition. Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world, is a precious part of Australia's natural and cultural heritage. White sandy beaches, untouched rainforest and over 100 freshwater lakes make the island a soothing experience. To the north in the Whitsundays lies Hayman Island. Frequently acknowledged as an Australian tourism icon and a world leader in hotel & resort excellence, Hayman has consistently been honoured with prestigious local and international awards.
